Hi, Norm...
The FAA has established a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) area over much of the central east coast of Florida due to space shuttle operations at Kennedy Space Center. As a result, most of the airspace south of Daytona Beach has been effectively closed to aircraft. It is likely that the increase in aircraft noise you've experienced recently is due largely to training traffic displaced northward by the TFR. Local air traffic should return to normal levels following the launch of the space shuttle.
Regards,
Steven

Subject: Just a FYI on noise today
Steven,
Just a FYI, the airplane noise has been really bad with planes flying over the
east end of Tomoka Estates the past couple of hours (started about 10)..most are
Embry Riddles.. some go out over the path but more than half are not. They are
taking off to the east and hooking north before getting out over the river..
Thanks..
Norm Echelberry/Tomoka Estates
